Out and About
I was out and about last week, firstly in Sydney for the week then in Melbourne for the weekend. Sydney was for the aforementioned Gartner Symposium. It was a good conference. Picked up a few new ideas and reinforced a few things about work and my role that I had been thinking about..
Read on for more details about what else I got up to.

After a days meetings and dinner we were driving back to the hotel. On the way we had to stop and check out Christmas Street. It was hard not to miss with all the lights. Every single house in the street was lit up! They had even put up a Christmas tree in the middle of the couldesac and had put up a sign across the front of the street proclaiming it was Christmas Street (also lit up) – All streets in Salt Lake City are numbered not named. My favourite was the house with Homer Simpons as Santa on the front lawn. The rest of the photos are in the gallery.
Sure is cold

Its currently 3 degrees (C) in Salt Lake City. There is snow about the mountains. I have some photos taken from a car at high speed. I have had 4 hours sleep in the last 28. Isn’t international travelling fun?
As Homer would say: Homer sleep now.
More on the joys of being delayed for 2.5 hours at the start of your journey, missing connections later.
Singapore for the day

I’m in Singapore. Exciting because I’ve never been there. I could also file it under hot as well because that is what it also is. I have posted some photos. Left Australia at 9pm on Emirates. Didn’t get a buisness class upgrade but did get 3 seats to myself. Watched Spiderman 2 again then stretched out for a nap. Probably got about 4 hours. (Its about an 8 hour flight) – Got to the hotel about 3:20am local time (5:20am Brisbane time) for another few hours sleep.
So what to do when your in Singapore for a day? Shop! Ofcourse I’ll be in Singapore for two days this trip (on the way back too) so I saved the shopping till then. Reframing the question: What to do in Singapore for the first of two days when you don’t want to carry your shopping around the whole trip? Walk around like a tourist (fortunately I was) Walked for about 3 and half hours and this is what I saw:
- Chinatown.
- The Merlion (I asked one of the guys I was travelling with, If I was in singapore for one day and had to take a photo of something so people would know I was in Singapore what should I take a photo of? The Merlion is the answer)
- Raffles Landing Site
New items learnt about Singapore:
- Raffles is the name of the British person that founded it
- Driving a car is regulated. Only a certain number of people are allowed to own cars and drive them around. (To keep the poluition and congestion down) You get a license to use your car for a year.
- Other stuff that I’ll edit in later like it really here the whole time
Off to the airport and on to India.
